Track root cause with reasons

What are reasons?

Reasons allow you to track root cause by breaking down the down and idle categories.

After you add reasons, you will be prompted to select a reason each time you indicate a location is down or idle.

Dashboards will aggregate by reason, enabling more granular analysis of your downtime or idle time.

For example, you may want to use downtime reasons to track when a machine is down or when you’re out of materials. You may want to use idle reasons to track types of break or shift meetings.

Configure reasons

Add a reason

In the Tendrel console, select Runtime from the side bar. Then navigate to the reasons tab.

Add a reasons

On the Runtime reasons tab, click the Add button. Provide a name for the reason and select whether it is categorized as Down or Idle. Click Save.

Track reasons in the app

When you start downtime or idle time during a run, you will be asked to provide the reason. A form will appear allowing you to select the reason from your list.

After selecting a reason and closing the form, you will be able to see your selected reason on the run screen. You can re-open the form to change the reason by clicking the edit icon.

Review reasons on the dashboards

Both the Runtime snapshot and location-specific dashboards will contain views aggregating your tracked reasons.

The table displays a list of reasons, along with their category, the number of times they occured, and their total time.

The accompanying chart shows a breakdown of reasons by day, with two stacked bars representing downtime reasons and idle reasons.
